Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: December 30, 2017

Tonight’s Saturday Night Live is one for the record books as Tiffany Haddish hosts an encore SNL.

On November 11, 2017, the crazy talented Tiffany Haddish made history by becoming the first black female stand up comedian to host Saturday Night Live in the show’s 43 year run. And for the last episode of 2017, this evening at 11:30pm, NBC will re-air this groundbreaking show as tonight’s SNL repeat.

This episode of SNL originally aired right in the thick of the national sexual misconduct story where it seemed like each day another famous male in America was being accused of boorish sexual misbehavior or worse. Saturday Night Live, which had been accused of dodging the issue when allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein first arose, dove headlong into the fray in this episode with a cold open featuring cast member Mikey Day as embattled Alabama Senate nominee Roy Moore talking over his misconduct issues with Beck Bennett’s VP Mike Pence, which also included a Louis C.K. sex joke right at the start. The show also included plenty of jokes about the subject from the Weekend Update news team which also featured a segment with a new Cecily Strong character, “Claire from H.R.”

Naturally, one of Tiffany Haddish’s strongest moments during the night was her monologue which was autobiographical as well as hysterical. She talked about growing up in foster care, her new found success and also made mention of the sexual misconduct fever gripping the nation. Plus, she introduced the audience to the $4,000 Alexander McQueen dress she was wearing and talked about how she intended to get her money’s worth out of it. Watch for the dress to make a cameo later in the show!

The first-time host also shined in a number of sketches including one where she a played a rather ineffective video game character, Boo Boo Jefferies, which we’re sure to see again whenever Tiffany Haddish returns to host SNL in the future. Tiffany also appeared in a sketch as the Last Black Unicorn, a nod to the title she gave herself in her Showtime Comedy Club special, “Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood” and she was hilarious as the latest host to play opposite of Kate McKinnon’s recurring character, Barbara DeDrew in the “Whiskers R Us” cat adoption sketch. Tiffany joins the distinguished list of female hosts to make it to the “Whiskers” Hall of Fame, including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Reese Witherspoon among others.

In the promos for tonight’s SNL rerun, cast member Aidy Bryant takes Tiffany Haddish on an SNL tour and the host finds out what happens when you push the wrong button in Studio 8-H. Then in the second set, Tiffany Haddish and musical guest Taylor Swift discuss retroactively collaborating on Taylor’s new album.

Tiffany Haddish hosts tonight’s repeat Saturday Night Live with musical guest Taylor Swift at 11:30pm on NBC.

SNL returns live in two weeks on January 13th with its Season 43 mid-season premiere and the first Saturday Night Live of 2018 with host Sam Rockwell and musical guest Halsey.
