Head Writer of “The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore” Announced

When The Colbert Report morphs into ‘The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore’ next year, it will have a top comedy writer on its creative team.

Robin Thede has been named the show’s Head Writer, which is scheduled to make its debut in January. Thede was recently Head Writer for The Queen Latifah Show and for Chris Rock on The 2014 BET Awards. Theade also wrote the first two seasons of the BET reality-TV parody series ‘Real Husbands Of Hollywood’. Thede is also an accomplished actress, sketch and improvisational comedian, honing her skills at Second City and Improv Olympic. She also created several successfully videos for the website Funny Or Die including ‘Every Little Step’ featuring Wayne Brady, Bobby Brown and Mike Tyson.

In a year where top shows such as ‘Saturday Night Live’ have come under fire from having a lack of diversity on screen and behind the scenes, Comedy Central is make a bold statement in hiring Thede – a woman of color – to be the creative force behind the only major talk anchored by a man of color.
