Harry Shearer Coming Back To Simpsons

Well, that didn’t last long. Harry Shearer is returning to The Simpsons.

Nearly two months ago, Shearer announced that he was leaving the animated series, after 26 seasons. The issue was reportedly a contract dispute, while Shearer claimed that he wanted the freedom to pursue other projects. Following the announcement, the show’s producers still did not want to let the actor leave the program. James L. Brooks, the show’s executive producer, tweeted: “Hey, we tried. We’re still trying. Harry, no kidding, let’s talk.”

After weeks of negotiation, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Shearer is coming back to the show. Season 27 has already begun production, but The Simpsons had completed seven additional episodes that they did not use last season, so Shearer and his characters are set to return without missing a beat. Shearer voices characters including Mr. Burns, Smithers, Principal Skinner, Dr. Hibbert, McBain, Reverend Lovejoy, Kent Brockman, Lenny, and Ned Flanders.

Fans can rejoice that these characters will be staying in Springfield.
