Hari Kondabolu Drops New Album In July

hari kondabalu

Self proclaimed killjoy and political comedian Hari Kondabolu releases his latest stand-up special “Mainstream American Comic” on July 22nd through indie label Kill Rock Stars. The album was recorded with a live audience at Mississippi Studios in Portland, Oregon. His first album, “Waiting for 2042” debuted in 2014 and has since been incorporated into more liberal high school and presumably worse-quality college curriculums (bummer for the kid with the best and worst luck who learned about the same stand-up album twice at two different schools).

Hari’s comedy is a blend of inclusive ideals and confronting racist assumptions head on. He’s not singing Kumbaya and telling jokes about why can’t cats and dogs be friends (because they already are friends and it’s adorable when one sleeps on top of the other) so much as telling you to fuck off for questioning why his imitation of his immigrant mother doesn’t include an accent. Kondabolu’s outspoken activism landed him a job writing for “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell” and has made him a frequent guest on late night talk shows, with appearances on the “Late Show with David Letterman”, “Conan”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “@midnight” among many others.

Hari will take his act on the road between late July and early September with stops in Detroit (St. Andrew’s Hall-7/29), Chicago (The Hideout-7/31), Milwaukee (Turner Hall Ballroom- 7/31), Brooklyn (The Bell House-8/3-4), the East Coast’s Portland (Port City Musical Hall-8/5), Burlington (Vermont Comedy Club-8/26-27) and the nation’s capital at the Sixth & I on September 10th.

The most notable lies Rachel Crowe has ever told were that she has 10 children (no twins), she’s running a marathon retracing the path her ancestors took to evade the IRS and that she found childcare for 10 on a Saturday night. She’s also a stand-up comedian and dog walker living in Los Angeles. Follow Rachel on Twitter @Racheddar or on Instagram @thelma_and_disease. Or don’t, but at least appreciate those fresh hot puns.
