Show: Godfrey

Venue: Gotham Comedy Club
Location:
208 W. 23rd Street NYC

Time: 8pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

GODFREY is one of the hottest comedians on the circuit. Growing up in Chicago, he constantly got in trouble for misbehaving and being an all-around class clown. Godfrey’s Nigerian parents unknowingly encouraged his bad behavior by showing him classic comedy films from an early age. While performing impressions of his college football teammates, Godfrey realized his irreverent style of comedy might be more than just a hobby.

Godfrey’s talent landed him several high profile projects. His performance in Zoolander has achieved cult status; he is recognized across the country as the beloved “7UP Guy” from 7UP’s national advertising campaign; and he has cracked up moviegoers in Johnson Family Vacation, The Cook Out with Queen Latifah, Phat Girlz starring Academy Award-winning actress Monique, and Soul Plane, alongside Snoop Dogg. For years, Godfrey provided pop culture commentary on VH1 as a talking head and also appeared on Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen.

As one of the most dominant forces in the comedy circuit, Godfrey is in demand as both a host and a standup headliner at the nation’s premiere comedy clubs. Godfrey has performed at comedy festivals in Montreal, Toronto, and Chicago, as well as the Just For Laughs Roadshow.

With his fourth appearance on BET’s Comicview, a guest starring role on 30 ROCK, and his own half-hour special for Comedy Central under his belt, Godfrey is clearly on the verge of super-stardom.

Venue: The Bell House
Location:
149 7th Street Brooklyn

Time: 7:30pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

Grist is a source of intelligent, irreverent environmental news and commentary that’s been around since 1999, when the internet was made of rubber bands. We set out to change the way the story of the environment was told — to make the issues accessible and relevant, and to wake readers up to the problems confronting us. Now, with the alarm raised, we are pointing our beacon in a new direction: toward a just, sustainable future. To do this work, we will transform the story of the environment, and the story society tells itself about its future. Our motto: Less freaking out, more figuring out.

Show: Ask Me Another with Andy Karl

Venue: The Bell House
Location:
149 7th Street Brooklyn

Time: 7:30pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

Puzzlemaster Will Shortz and Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! host Peter Sagal walk into a bar… No, it’s not the start of a joke. It’s the essence of Ask Me Another, a rambunctious hour that blends brainteasers and local pub trivia night with comedy and music. Host  Ophira Eisenberg invites in-studio guests and listeners alike to stretch their noggins, tickle their funny bones, and enjoy witty banter and guitar riffs from house musician  Jonathan Coulton.

For an hour, listeners can play along as Eisenberg puts questions to a rotating band of puzzle gurus, audience members and special mystery guests, who then takes a turn in the contestant’s chair facing trivia games written especially for him or her. What you’ll hear resembles the casual intimacy of game night at a friend’s house: one where scores are forgotten in favor of hilarious gaffes.

Ask Me Another is recorded live at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY.

Ask Me Another is a co-production of NPR and WNYC.

Show: Breakout Comedy Series: Jason Salmon

Venue: Caroline’s on Broadway
Location:
1626 Broadway NYC

Time:  7pm
Description of Show and Lineup:

Jason was born in Texas, in the middle of a hail storm, so things have always been a little weird. He pursued a degree in Engineering and upon graduating, decided he preferred words to numbers and he preferred people laughing at him for being silly to people congratulating him for doing math. He has acted, written, and performed comedy ever since, doing sketch, improv and, of course, standup. He is based out of New York City, but headlines around the country.

One Man described his comedy as, “…like getting the best advice you’ve ever gotten, from the dumbest guy you know.”

He has appeared on 30 Rock and Orange is the New Black and in 3 out of every 5 commercials you see on TV. He loves you more than he is comfortable letting on and he wants you to follow him: on Instagram – @JasonSalmonComedy , Twitter – @JasonTSalmon , YouTube – Jason Salmon …or just follow him in real life. But wear comfortable shoes. He walks everywhere.
