Fox Affiliate Anchor Calls Rachel Maddow an Angry Young Man

Cincinnati Fox anchor Tricia Macke got pulled off the air for posting the following on her Facebook page:

“Rachel Maddow is such an angry young man.”

Local LGBT groups were not happy about this. All she had to say was “Sorry if you were offended”, which has not helped things. Since then she’s been suspended. Hey, maybe she was just confused by Maddow’s haircut.

      I think when you use the word news, it should look more like, “news” when speaking of a Fox correspondent. @ecupirate

    She isn’t too bad looking but… I like that she stood behind her remarks and basically said she is sorry for offending and her attack is for maddow specifically not against the group.. It’s a local rep she will be fine

    Stop getting your news second-hand from fucking Gawker. It took 2 seconds to look up her actual apology:

    “I recently posted comments on my personal Facebook page regarding cable news anchor Rachel Maddow which were insensitive and inappropriate. I apologize to Ms. Maddow and any others who may have been offended by my comments, as they do not reflect my firm beliefs in individual and equal rights, and they certainly do not represent the opinions or position of my employer WXIX-TV.”

    That’s a lot different from “sorry if you were offended.” It is a standard corporate “forced to apologize” apology, though. But who’s surprised by that?

      @Chris_EsT How about we quit giving Gawker more pub. I’m not complaining against the Ibang, but I’m sick and tired of all the Gawker sites and their “get everybody fired” journalism.

    Where was all the pretend outrage when the new Mathew Perry show had an episode where the running gag was that people thought he was Rachel Maddow?  What’s the differnce between posting a joke that Maddow is a dude and broadcasting a joke that Maddow looks like a dude?

    • zel

      November 14, 2012 at 11:17 am

      @sidwasout One’s a tv sitcom, the other is a news anchor who represents the network?

      Personally, I don’t care what she said and wouldn’t blame her for not getting in trouble for the comment, but there is a difference between your two examples.

      • sidwasout

        November 14, 2012 at 11:25 am

        @zel
         Granted, but she wasn’t making a news broadcast.  Was it on her personal page?  Is she not allowed to make jokes on her personal page?  Jokes are jokes, regardless of whether they are funny or original.  Unless she made her joke in the context of a news broadcast, or on a page officially affiliated with the company for which she works, I don’t see a real difference.

      • zel

        November 14, 2012 at 11:29 am

        @sidwasoutLike I said, I agree with you. I was just commenting on y our question about the difference between her comment and the show “Go on”.

        I don’t know if it was her personal page or not.

      • sidwasout

        November 14, 2012 at 11:53 am

        @zel
         Understood.  I was commenting on your view that the two are different.  They are not exactly alike, but I think they are more alike than different.  Jokes are jokes.

      • zel

        November 14, 2012 at 1:04 pm

        @sidwasout
         I hear you. But honestly, I do not think her comment was not meant as a joke at all (still don’t think she should be fired!).

      • Drippy Granny

        November 14, 2012 at 12:12 pm

        @zel I’m going to agree with you that if it came down to a sitcom and a news anchor then it’d be unacceptable. But Fox “news” channel is not at all a news channel. Its “news entertainment”. Therefor acceptable. So why they pulled her is completely ridiculous and seems to be against their entertainment goal.

      • zel

        November 14, 2012 at 1:06 pm

        @Drippy Granny  I agree with your comment about fox news entertainment. But whether they are news or entertainment, it’s their right to decide what they want to do internally, even if I disagree with it.

      • Chris_EsT

        November 14, 2012 at 1:14 pm

        @Drippy Granny She’s on a local affiliate, not the national cable channel. Not really the same. But at least you didn’t say “faux news,” ugh…

      • sidwasout

        November 14, 2012 at 1:23 pm

        @Drippy Granny  @zel
         Yeah, the local affiliates tend to do actual news shows, like the local affiliates for the other major networks.

    This bitch is fucking hot! I’d eat that conservative ass in a second. Oh, and even my liberal ass thinks Rachel Maddow looks like a fucking dude. She lood like a dude cause she feels comfortable looking like a dude. There for, there’s no reason for her to be pissed when people call her a man. She wants to be manly! And I’m pretty sure she wasn’t pissed when she had the comment relayed to her. She probably also wants to fuck the shit outta this bitch and could care less what the fuck people think of her man like qualities. Fuck the over-sensitive LGBT and their bullshit sensorship and any organization that tries to sensor people
