All Female Canadian Sketch Comedy Coming to IFC

IFC has announced that it has acquired the popular CBC comedy Baroness von Sketch Show, an all-female, half-hour sketch show written and performed by Meredith MacNeill and Second City alumni Jennifer Whalen, Carolyn Taylor and Aurora Browne. The acquisition comes on the heels of a few big wins for the show at the Canadian Screen Awards, including awards for Best Variety or Sketch Comedy, Best Writing in Variety/Sketch, and Best Picture Editing in Variety/Sketch. Towards the end of the summer, IFC plans to air both season one and the upcoming second season.

Being an all-female show, Baroness von Sketch tackles a variety of topics from a female point of view, including marketing which targets women, locker room awkwardness, trying on jeans, the dangers of mixing business and pleasure, pretentious coffee orders and bachelorette parties.

Andreas Lemos, representing the show’s distributor Banijay Rights, said “We are delighted that Baroness von Sketch Show is finding as prestigious a US home as IFC. It’s not often that a show has you both keeling over with laughter and questioning the status quo. We are thrilled that American audiences will now get to witness the Baronesses’ unique, provocative and hilarious brand of comedy.”
