Family And Friends Hold Memorial For Robin Williams

A memorial service was held for Robin Williams on Saturday at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco.

According to the New York Daily News, the service was opened by Robin’s long time friend Billy Crystal who broke down in tears. Other speakers included Bonnie Hunt, Bobcat Goldthwait, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin’s wife and three kids. Whoopi told a story about when she, Billy Crystal and Robin went to Washington DC and were set to meet Senator Ted Kennedy and Robin said – “Okay, if Ted says he’ll drive, let’s regroup”.

Some of Robin’s friends attending the memorial were Pam Dawber, Lance Armstrong, George Lucas, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Seth Green, Eddie Izzard, Penny Marshall, Bette Midler, Joel McHale, Jeff Bridges, Josh Groban, Marlo Thomas and Ben Stiller.

Mourners were given wristbands with an image of a hummingbird and the words “Love the stillness of life” inscribed on them.

It’s been 6 weeks since Robin’s suicide.
