Comedians Lock Down 4 of Top 5 Spots in Most Beloved Television Personality Poll
This morning, The Harris Poll results were released, and Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey and Steven Colbert made the list of the top five tv personalities in America. NCIS’ Mark Harmon beat all of them for the top spot as America’s favorite TV personality, narrowly beating out reigning champion Ellen Degeneres. According to Poll results, Conservatives pick Harmon while Moderates and Liberals both lean toward DeGeneres. Harmon last held the title in 2011 and DeGeneres leaned up in the last three years, proving that America likes it’s TV the way they like their politics. Full of familiar faces.
Other notable results include two past favorites that didn’t make the cut this year. David Letterman, who stepped down from his historic run at The Late Show and Bill O’Reilly, who continues to do his show, people just don’t like him anymore.
In case you are wondering, the answer is YES. The Harris Poll was conducted prior to The Miss Universe Pagaent explaining Steve Harvey’s inclusion. Harvey has held onto the number four spot for two years, and Colbert jumped two spots since his takeover at The Late Show.
The Harris Poll also included some in depth analysis for those interested. Mark Harmon tops the list overall but he certainly doesn’t have a lock on every subset. Harmon does hold sway among men, but DeGeneres is the top pick among women. Millennials look to DeGeneres and Gen Xers name Fallon, while Harmon is the top pick among Baby Boomers and Matures.
Regionally speaking, Harmon has the East, the South and the West locked down; DeGeneres leads in the Midwest. Urbanites also pick Harmon, while those in Suburban and Rural areas choose DeGeneres. By political party, Harmon is the top selection among Republicans and Independents while Steve Harvey is the top pick among Democrats.
Looking at political philosophy, Conservatives pick Harmon while Moderates and Liberals both lean toward DeGeneres.
Does this mean that someone’s TV shows can predict their political leanings? I’m not sure, I think mostly it proves that America believes Mark Harmon is more handsome than Ellen Degeneres.
