Explosions At The Boston Marathon (UPDATED)

CBS News is reporting that several people have been injured when 2 explosions occurred near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

UPDATED 8:55

CNN and NBC are now reporting that one of the people killed in today’s explosions was an eight year old boy.  CNN is also reporting that a number of limbs were lost, and that ball bearings were being removed from victims at area hospitals.  At least 17 of the injured are in critical condition, and at least 25 are in serious condition, area hospitals said.  There also are reports that the death toll is up to 3 now.

Boston City Hall has put a number up that people can call for information if they are looking for a loved one that was at the Boston Marathon today when the explosions went off.

UPDATED 6:23:

Two bombs exploded near the finish line earlier today, and one additional unexploded device was recovered. The injury reports remain the same, 2 dead, several dozen injured, at least two in critical condition, with possibly a dozen more with serious injuries. The earlier reports that there was a bomb at JFK library were incorrect– there was however, a fire at the library that was unrelated.  Watch Obama’s News Conference below, as well as Boston Police Comissioner Davis’ Press Conference for the most current official information.

UPDATED 4:23PM:

The New York Post is reporting the death toll so far from the earlier explosions that happened at the Boston Marathon.  A federal law-enforcement source told The Post there are at least 12 dead and nearly 50 injured. The injuries include some amputations from the bombing.
