This morning the 2015 Emmy Award Nominations were announced with plenty of comedy nominations, and it’s no surprise to see Amazon’s Transparent leading the pack with the most comedy nominations, unless you count oustanding mini series Olive Kitteridge as comedic- they brought HBO 13 nominations. Here’s a quick roundup of the biggest news:

  • Transparent continues as critical darling with 11 nominations.
  • Veep grabs 9 Emmy nominations
  • Silicon Valley and Inside Amy Schumer each take 7 Emmy nominations
  • In Late Night Talk, Letterman leads the pack with 6 nominations
  • Daily Show, Colbert Report and Last Week Tonight take 4 nominations each.
  • Orange is the New Black Grabbed 4 Nominations but not in comedy category
  • Hello Ladies gets a nomination for Outstanding Television movie
  • Louis CK gets a nomination for his controversial SNL hosting appearance
  • Louis CK Live at the Comedy Store nominated for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series

Amy Schumer’s hot streak continued, which may not seem surprising now, but just a few months ago, there wasn’t nearly as much heat on IAS. Although the show is in its third season, this is the first year it’s gotten this kind of recognition, and they went large with 7 categories. We’re predicting a big grab of wins for team Amy. Congratulations to everyone for some well deserved recognition not only for Amy but also for the shows writers and directors. IAS received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress, Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, Outstanding Guest Actor for Paul Giamatti’s performance as Juror #10, Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series for head writer Jessi Klein, Halle Cantor, Kim Caramel, Kyle Dunnigan, Jon Glaser, Christina Jangle, Kurt Metzger, Daniel Power, Tami Sager and Amy, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series for the 12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer sketch directed by Ryan McFaul, and even a nomination for Outstanding Original Music for the song “Cool With It/Girl You Don’t Need Makeup.”

Silicon Valley also scored 7, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing, and a few other technical categories, and Louie is continuing to grab Emmy love in 6 categories including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Guest in a Comedy Series for Pamela Adlon, and some love for Outstanding Writing for the “Bobby’s House” episode among others.
