Continuing Seeso’s history of bringing uncensored comedy material to their audiences, the company announced today that they’re bringing Doug Stanhope’s next comedy special to the platform.

No Place Like Home was taped in Stanhope’s hometown of Bisbee, Arizona, and will premiere on Seeso on September 15. In keeping with Stanhope’s outspoken style, he’ll be covering topics others shy away from like ISIS beheadings, caring for the mentally ill, Vietnam veterans, being locked up overseas, LGBT topics, and yes even kids with cancer.

Doug Stanhope is critically acclaimed for his smart, fearless and funny coverage of uncomfortable topics, and well known for railing against the decline of western civilization and taking on authority at all turns. Stanhope takes risks without hesitation, often in the face of personal or career repercussions, and his brutal honesty has earned him a rabid fanbase. Louis CK called him “one the best comics in the world for a very long time, and he only gets better with time.” Ricky Gervais describes him as “one of the most important stand-ups working today.”

Stanhope’s book, Digging Up Mother was released to rave reviews earlier this summer, and his podcast on the All Things Comedy Network has a huge following. Doug also hosted the Man Show on Comedy Central for two seasons, has released four CDs and three DVDs including “No Refunds” on Showtime in 2008, and has a long list of TV appearance credits.

The special was directed and produced by Brian Hennigan and executive produced by Christi Dembrowski, Johnny Depp, Brian Hennigan, Sam Sarkar and Brian Volk-Weiss of Comedy Dynamics.
