Don’t Even Think About Stealing Eddie Izzard’s Pink Beret
Comedian and actor Eddie Izzard became the focus of a pro-EU protest this past Saturday, but not for the reason he’d like. Izzard gave an address to protesters in London’s Parliament Square on Saturday, speaking in support of improved relations between Europe and the United Kingdom, which recently voted to leave the European Union in what’s become known as “Brexit.”

After his address, however, Izzard was harassed by a pro-Brexit protester. With his face covered by a bandana, the ruffian wrestled a pink beret off of Izzard’s head (Izzard was cross-dressing at the time, as he often does) and attempted to make off with it, but was immediately spotted by police. Izzard picked his purse up off the ground and gave chase (in heels!), which didn’t last long, as the thief was tackled by the cops only a few feet away.
In a hilarious instant, Izzard reaches under the pile of wrestling men and retrieves his beret. He dusts it off, gives a subtle smirk to the camera, and is then pulled away by an unidentified person.
The thief, 26 year old David Czerwonko, was arrested and will return to court on September 19th. Until then, the cops have had to claim Izzard’s beret as evidence. Here’s hoping they take good care of it.
