Arvind Mahankali won the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday by spelling “knaidel,” referring to the Yiddish word for dumpling correctly. The victory may have been neesht kosher, according to Yiddish linguists who claim that the correct spelling of the word is actually “kneydl.” Mahankali is from New York City, so he is kind of a Yiddish linguist.

Come on guys. A Yiddish linguist does not have much to be proud of. For once in his life, maybe we should just go along with what he says.
I lost interest in spelling bees years ago after they rejected my idea to make them spell while in a chamber flooded with live bees.
