Dick Gregory’s Family to Hold Public Funeral March in Washington D.C. on September 16th
Two weeks ago, comedy legend and celebrated civil rights activist Dick Gregory passed away, prompting tributes and memorials throughout the comedy community. Gregory, who was 84 at the time of his passing, was a comedic force who was still performing gigs right up until his death. He was a fiercely opinionated, principled person who strove not only to entertain, but to educate, and his work had a profound effect on all who experienced it. To celebrate the impact that Gregory had on the world around him, his family has announced a memorial service that they hope will do him justice and provide adequate reverence for a man who touched the lives of so many.
The Celebration of Life for Dick Gregory will take place on Saturday, September 16th at 4pm at the City Of Praise Family Ministries, 8501 Jericho City Drive, Landover, MD.
The event will be open to the public, per an Instagram post by Gregory’s daughter, Ayanna:
