David Letterman Makes Deal With Netflix

Move over Chelsea Handler, make some room because Netflix just added its second late night host to their line up. David Letterman is coming to the platform with a series of six in-depth interviews. Basically, it’s a talk show without all that pesky monologue, desk pieces and bits up front. It’s an odd choice since Letterman is probably better known for all the up front shtick and his comedy than he is for his actual interviews, but who cares, Letterman’s back and that makes us happy.

There’s no name for the series yet, but there will be six episodes and the long form conversations will be one-on-one with “extraordinary people.”

Said Letterman, “I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”

The series is set to premiere in 2018. No word yet on whether he’ll keep the beard.

The project is being produced by RadicalMedia, the Academy Award® and Emmy-winning company behind Netflix’s What Happened, Miss Simone?, Oh, Hello on Broadway and Abstract: The Art of Design, as well as Letterman’s Worldwide Pants.
