David Letterman is at the Indy 500 and it’s a special year. It’s the 100th running, and he believes in his guy, Graham Rahal, and he was talking about it on ESPN on Sports Center yesterday. “I don’t know if you’ve seen him race the last couple years…but he’s like a wolf hunting a wounded elk.”

Letterman is so sure his guy will win, that he said he will fake his death if his team loses. “If we don’t win the 100th running, I have every intention of faking my own death. I know a fellow who will remove my fingerprints. I have a post office box somewhere on the planet and that’s all I can tell you.”

He also said he was already drunk. Daytime drunk will make you say a lot of weird things, but dammit it makes sense to him.

So this is all it takes to get elusive bearded Letterman back in front of the camera- something that genuinely interests him. Got it.

Events kick off Sunday afternoon.
