Daughter of a Segregationist Tries to Escape Her Father’s Legacy

U1583804Peggy Wallace Kennedy is the daughter of George Wallace, the governor of Alabama quoted as saying “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever” when he took office 50 years ago. Today, she has made an effort to escape the shadow of her father, endorsing Obama’s candidacy in 2008, attending memorials for Bloody Sunday, and participating in Civil Rights walks. It’s safe to say she’s more of a mommy’s girl.
