Darrell Hammond Replacing Don Pardo as SNL Announcer

hammond announcer snl replacing don pardo

The New York Times is reporting that Darrell Hammond will be taking over the role as the new announcer for Saturday Night Live after Don Pardo’s passing this year.  In an interview, Lorne Michaels was quoted as saying, “I’m really happy about it. I think it will be good to have Darrell doing his own separate thing.”

Don Pardo had a 40 year run as announcer for SNL and his voice was a real touchstone for longtime fans. With a 14 year run with the cast, Darrell Hammond is the longest serving cast member. This makes almost too much sense.

Classy move Michaels.
