Bill Cosby performances are being cancelled across the country. Appearances in Oklahoma, Nevada, Illinois, Arizona, South Carolina and Washington State have all been called off, either by mutual choice between the venue and Cosby’s people or by the venue themselves. One place where it was decided that the show must go on was Melbourne, Florida.

Cosby appeared on stage Friday night at the King Center for the Performing Arts at Eastern Florida State University. He also actually made a statement to the press. Backstage at the show, Cosby told Florida Today, “I know people are tired of me not saying anything, but a guy doesn’t have to answer to innuendos. People should fact check. People shouldn’t have to go through that and shouldn’t answer to innuendos”.

A local radio station was offering cash and prizes to anyone that would disrupt the show by shouting out and heckling Cosby. He talked about that. “The thing is, these people are prodding and pushing people and asking people to have a frat house mentality. Now suppose someone brings a weapon or decided to do more foolishness. There will be announcements made and the stations made some disclaimers, but what if people don’t listen to what they said and they entice violence?”

That didn’t happen. It was just the opposite. The Florida crowd greeted Cosby on stage with a standing ovation. The only time the show was interrupted was when someone would yell out about loving Bill Cosby.

It’s hard tell the motivation for the standing O. Either they respect the work of a legend or they appreciated their show not being on list of cancellations or it’s simply Florida and they were applauding the idea of drugging a woman to have sex with her.
