Conan Writer Attacks The Rest Of Late Night

“Shove your lip-syncing up your ass”. That’s how “Conan” staff writer Andres du Bouchet feels about the state of late night television comedy. At least that’s how he felt this past week on Twitter. du Bouchet who has written for Conan O’Brien through every incarnation of his TV shows (Late Night, The Tonight Show, Conan), went on Twitter about how lame he feels late night has become and said it needs a “motherfucking shake up”.

With his comment about lip syncing competitions, that was obviously a shot at the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon who also indirectly gets called “the prom king”. But according to the Hollywood Reporter, this all started with a tweet about “Hashtag Wars” that contained just about every profanity you can think of. Again though, no shows were mentioned by name, (@midnight). Not that they had to be. His other complaints included that late night should have “No celebrities, no parodies, no pranks, no mash-ups”. “Pranks” sounds like he has a problem with Kimmel.

He later calmed down in his tweets saying he’s looking forward to the new Stephen Colbert Late Show. du Bouchet also apologized for being an “elitist windbag”. The next day at work at “Conan” couldn’t have been very fun. Andres du Bouchet announced online he was due for a “dressing down”.
