Jonah Hill and Miles Teller, who you might remember from Whiplash, are War Dogs. The term refers to bottom feeders who make money off of war without ever stepping on the battlefield. It’s a comedy, but it’s also based on the true story of who twenty-somethings who bid on, and US Military contracts by exploiting a government initiative and underbid the competition.
They land a 300 million dollar US Govt contract when they submit a bid 53 million lower than the nearest competition.
Todd Phillips directs and also co-wrote along with Stephen Chin and Jason Smilovic. The screenplay is based on a Rolling Stone article titled “Arms and the Dudes.”
War Dogs will be in theaters on August 19.
