COMING SOON: Brooklyn Boheme Screening at IFC Center (with Photo)

Brooklyn Boheme is an intimate look at the black arts movement that exploded in the Fort Greene area in the mid 80s and early 90s. Writer, historian and long time resident Nelson George traces the talks with many of the movers and shakers that made the scene happen (Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Brandford Marsalis, Rosie Perez, Saul Williams, Vernon Reid, Talib Kweli, Lorna Simpson, just to name a few) and its impact on pop culture. The images here were taken at a screening last night at the IFC center and feature Vernon Reid, DOC NYC Artistic Director Thom Powers, co-director Diane Paragas, co-director Nelson George and writer Toure.
