Comedy Central Is Upping the Game With a Comedy Super Festival in 2017

The U.S. is without a doubt the biggest hotbed of comedy in the world. No other country has produced the sheer quantity and quality of artists that the U.S. has, and yet there is one thing that the American comedy scene is severely lacking: a signature comedy festival. As far as festivals go, the big destination for most successful comics in North America is Montreal’s Just For Laughs, which has been showcasing some of comedy’s best and brightest since 1983. Now, Comedy Central is looking to join the fray.

Comedy Central president Kent Alterman has announced that the network has partnered up with production company Superfly (responsible for festivals like Bonnaroo and Outside Lands) to host a comedy festival in San Francisco. The as-yet-unnamed festival will feature tons of comedy in all its forms — stand-up, podcasts, improv, etc. — as well as a host of Comedy Central’s stars. While comedy will be the festival’s main focus, it won’t be the only form of entertainment available — the event will also feature live music and some stellar food offerings, which will only be bolstered by the festival’s proximity to Napa Valley.

While there’s currently no information regarding when the festival will take place or what it’s even called, those details are bound to come out soon. Be sure to check back in with the IBang for more news as it develops!
