For the second live edition of Comedy 101, we took the show to The Stand Comedy Club in New York City!

Comedy 101 puts open mic comedy acts together with a panel of mentors, all New York stand-up legends, all killers. It’s an open mic meets a roast, as we send our young rookie open mic comics up like lambs to a slaughter– because our panel of mentors aren’t exactly the advice giving types. Our open mic performers have to tell a joke, and fast, or they’ll be the joke.

New York comedy giants Rich Vos, Robert Kelly, and Bonnie McFarlane served as our mentors, sitting in judgement, with a bell ready to ring in to give their tough “advice” to our open mic’ers.  And they were brutal.  Taking the stage in front of our panel were six brave open mic comics: Eric Luhrmann, Eagle Witt, Jessica Mears, Hugh Chatfield, Kevin Gootee, the return of Phil — and another special surprise guest. Our mentors were out for blood, with Kelly, Vos and McFarlane continually interrupting the comics (and each other) with some of the funniest back-to-back lines we’ve ever heard crammed into one hour.

If you are squeamish, uncomfortable with insults, or live by the phrase “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” this show may not be for you. But for everyone else, we can’t wait for you to hear it.
