Comedians Who Wanted to Rock, and Got Their Big Chance

2.  Denis Leary, “Asshole”

I don’t think there’s a comedian who divides opinions in a way anything like Leary does. Whether you think he’s a genius, a hack, a visionary, or a psychopath, you have to admit he’s brutally honest. Denis has dabbled in a little bit of every field in the world of entertainment, and for what it’s worth, he’s done pretty damn well in most of it. Way back in ’93, Leary released “No Cure For Cancer”, his first comedy album. The most memorable offering from Denis’ debut is “Asshole”, a rousing anthem for every mouth-breathing subhuman that the average Joe has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Even today, 21 years later, it’s still easy to relate to the kind of jerk that the song lampoons.
