Chelsea Goes Retro in Season Two Trailer

Chelsea Handler’s aggressive apathy peaks in Netflix’s trailer for the upcoming second season of her talk show “Chelsea”. The video contrasts the pretty perfectness of Handler as a 50’s-esque housewife with her actual behavior as a nosy, erratic, blunt woman. The contrast of moralistic promises and less-than performances is a standard irony in all types of comedy, but it feels weak from a show that swears it’s unlike anything else. The second season promises more guests, but hopefully it’ll also bring more of a shtick than what we’ve already seen.

The second season airs soon with an exciting mix of guests from entertainment and politics, Handler’s two favorite topics besides everything that’s up for debate. Premiering on Friday, April 14th at noon and airing every Friday, the second season includes Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone, the cast of “Nobodies” (Larry Dorf, Hugh Davidson & Rachel Ramras), CNN’s Van Jones, Christiane Amanpour and UCB co-founder/“Veep” alum Matt Walsh. Future episodes include guests such as Charlize Theron (4/21); Rosario Dawson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Senator Cory Booker (4/28); and an Education Dinner Party with Jim Parsons, Rashida Jones, Gaby Hoffmann, and Mary McCormack (5/5).
