Cedric the Entertainer Teams Up with Spike Feresten to Develop CBS Sitcom

Cedric the Entertainer continues to use his powers as an immortal vampire to his advantage, securing development for his new CBS series Tony Take the Wheel. Cedric and former Seinfeld writer Spike Feresten created the series together and will both executive produce. Feresten is the main writing force behind the show.

Tony Take the Wheel will focus on the strained relationship between two brothers that becomes all the more complicated when one of the brothers (the illusive Tony, perhaps?) prods the other by hiring his nephew to work at his custom auto shop. It’s unclear which role Cedric will fill, or who will be filling out the rest of the cast.

Cedric the Entertainer’s worked in some form of entertainment for the better part of the last 23 years, and he’s barely showed any sign of slowing down. In June, his TV Land show The Soul Man, which he created and starred in, came to an end after five well-received seasons. He just wrapped up shooting for a new rom-com called Why Him? starring James Franco and Bryan Cranston and, earlier this year, reprised his role as Eddie in the most recent installment of the unkillable franchise Barbershop.

Feresten is currently the host of Esquire’s Car Matchmaker with Spike Feresten. He is perhaps best known for his writing on shows like Seinfeld, Saturday Night Live and on both Letterman shows.
