Carl and Rob Reiner to Be Honored at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre

The Jerk, The Princess Bride, The Comic, When Harry Met Sally, Where’s Poppa?, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, Stand By Me, This Is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, Misery, The Man with Two Brains; What do all of these classic films all have in common? Well, they (along with many, many others) were all written/directed by either Carl or Rob Reiner. Between the two of them, they have made massive contributions to today’s popular culture, and now they’re going to get some recognition for that fact with one of Hollywood’s most honored traditions.

Each year, Turner Classic Movies holds the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, CA at the legendary TCL Chinese Theatre (a.k.a. Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), the site at which many Hollywood icons have had their hand and footprints immortalized in cement. On Friday, April 8th, Carl and Rob Reiner will both be inducted into that elite class of entertainers, the first father and son duo to ever receive the honor simultaneously.

“Carl Reiner is a genuine comedy pioneer, a breakthrough artist from Hollywood’s golden era,” said TCM Classic Film Festival host Ben Mankiewicz. “It’s never easy following in the footsteps of a force as innovative and creative as that, but Rob found his own way to success, as an actor, first as a vital part of the social relevance of All in the Family, then as thoughtful director and producer of both comedies and dramas. There’s is a family that belongs forever imprinted in Hollywood history.”

This achievement is just one in a long list of accolades for the pair, who have collectively spent over a century in the industry. They have won 14 Emmy Awards between the two of them and have been nominated for multiple Grammy and Academy Awards; The elder Reiner has been elected for both the Emmy and TV Halls of Fame, and just to prove his breadth of talent, has also written nearly two dozen books.
