Besides killing them and shipping them to supermarkets, this video was released by Mercy For Animals showing turkeys being mistreated before being sent off to slaughter. The below video may be disturbing for some people, so if you don’t like watching turkeys get beat up, don’t watch. Just know that going organic this Thanksgiving might not be a bad idea.

More left wing horse shit! What’s next ASPCA commercials, PETA advertisements, USHS Literature…

November 15, 2012 at 2:09 am
It isn’t really left wing… Wouldn’t you rather eat a wild turkey from a hunter? I would. At least then the turkey saw day light and had an area to roam. Are hunters left wing or right wing? They are both, or course. Many environmentalists are also hunters. If not a wild turkey then there are local farms with turkeys living out doors in a field, which is beter then caged turkeys… in my opinion

@Pepper Hicks Coughing Fit As a hunter I agree but keep in mind that wild turkey tastes a lot different than a butterball. In my opinion it tastes better, but some people think it tastes too “gamey.” Also, sometimes you have to pick a few shot pellets out at the dinner table.

@Pepper Hicks Coughing Fit
Would you rather eat a turkey that was enjoying life in the wild, living free, then murdered by a hunter, or would you rather eat one that was killed after a miserable existence, probably longing for death every day?

There’s def not a turkey shortage!.. Also, Organic doesn’t have anything tondo with how it’s killed. I’ve been to these kinds of plants, usually it’s pretty much on the up & up.. Just stay away from ‘mechanically separated’ meat.. Eww

brine those fucking birds overnight in kosher salt and cook a 20lb bird,w/o stuffing for 2hrs, deeelish.
sidwasout
November 15, 2012 at 12:25 pm
@madtowntom
2hrs? Why not just eat it completely raw, rather than partially raw?
madtowntom
November 15, 2012 at 1:46 pm
@sidwasout the brine changes the molecular structer of the bird, trust me it works. i still use a meat thermometer, have done 50 of them this way, it works. but yes, i used to think the same thing.
sidwasout
November 15, 2012 at 2:01 pm
@madtowntom
I’ve brined, and can see adding moisture helping through steaming action, perhaps, but 2hrs for a 20-pounder just seems a stretch. If it works for you, though, more power to ya. I tend to smoke ’em, anyway, so I’ll generally take longer.

At first there was a problem keeping the papers dry enough, and passing it around was tiring. Moved up to a six-tube hookah, and it works great. I go heavy on the herbs, of course.

Fuck those turkeys, everyday our elderly are abused in nursing homes how about you point your fucking camera there asshole. I always thought the greatest seasoning was a liberal dose of fear, plus a pinch of despair. Then again, I like to tear the tails off live lobsters, and watch the cephalothorax crawl around the kitchen floor while the tail cooks.
