Boston Comics Launch Fundraiser Spoofing Affleck, Damon & Brady Video

Last week, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady released a pretty funny video skit in which the two actors were fighting via Skype over which of them was better friends with Brady. The two Boston natives, it turns out, were supposed to be plugging their new fundraiser, which they neglected to do until Brady joins in on the call to wrangle the two fanboys in. The video ends with Brady explaining that the trio are hosting a fundraiser, benefiting three different charities, with one lucky contributor winning an evening with the three guys that will be filled with pizza, beer and backyard football.

To enter that contest, click here and donate, plus the more you donate, the better your chances to win. All proceeds will go to each of three charities: Damon’s Water.org, Affleck’s Eastern Congo Initiative, and Brady’s TB12 Foundation.

Now, three other Boston natives have jumped in on the fun. Comedians Lenny Clarke, Tony V and Steve Sweeney have followed the lead of Damon, Affleck and Brady by posting a video announcing their own fundraiser. The three funnymen start the video off by parodying the original video; in the original, Affleck, Damon and Brady hold up signs reading “You. Us. Boston,” while the signs of Tony V, Clarke and Sweeney read “Us. Him. Confused.” They, too, engage in an argument over who is better friends with Brady, with Tony V saying “I know he hates me,” Clarke responding “I know he loves me,” and Sweeney adding that “He doesn’t know who I am.”

The three comics banter back and forth for a good seven minutes, much of it disjointed, but the main thrust of the video is this: The comics are holding their own fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Joey Fund, a charity aiming to cure cystic fibrosis. Like the Affleck/Damon/Brady fundraiser, this event will require only a ten dollar donation. Unlike the original event, however, the comics are looking to sweeten the deal a bit more. The winner of the raffle will not only get a free night out on the town in Boston, enjoying pizza and beers with the comics; they’ll also get to accompany the guys to a Bruins game free of charge. Not a bad deal, and it’s for a good cause!

If you’d like to enter the contest, simply follow this link and donate $10 or more to the Joey Fund. Even if you don’t win, you get to feel good about yourself, if only for a moment.
