U2 frontman, Bono, spoke in front of U.S. Senators on Tuesday about the Syrian Refugee Crisis, and the violence that is erupting all over the world with the emergence of ISIS.  He advised proper structuring of aid to refugees, and warned of a growing threat of hyper nationalism in Europe, and he also suggested that we deploy Amy Schumer, Chris Rock and other comedians to solve the problem.   “This is unthinkable stuff,” he said. “And you should be very nervous in America about it,” he said.

I think comedy should be deployed.  Because if you look at national socialism…this is the same thing. We’ve seen this before. Very vain, they’ve got all the signs of show business. And the first people that Adolf HItler threw out of Germany were the Dadists and the Surrealists.  It’s like, you speak violence, you speak their language,” he said. “But you laugh at them, when they’re goose-stepping down the street, and it takes away their power. So, I’m suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer, and Chris Rock, and Sacha Baron Cohen, thank you,” he told the Senate.

As far as we know, Schumer, Rock and Cohen aren’t volunteering.

Schumer responded on Twitter, saying “Holy Shit.” Albert Brooks also responded informing Bono that he tried this ten years ago with his movie Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World, but alas, it didn’t work. It also failed to work for Parisian satire publication Charlie Hebdo, who have been relentless in their mockery of Islam extremists.
