Bill Maher: Why Now’s Not The Time To Fight For Transgender Bathroom Rights

Maher Piss

The Democrats have become the political party that is the friend to the LGBT and Q community. According to Bill Maher, now is the time for the Dems to put that friendship on hold for awhile.

In particular, he’s talking about the talk in the country about bills and laws regarding which bathroom Transgender people are allow to enter. Or as he feels conservatives describe the issue, “sex fiends pretending to be transgendered roaming America’s restrooms, in drag, looking for a chance to watch people pee”. As important or as ridiculous you feel these laws are, the host of HBO’s Real Time believes they are an issue that could give the election to Donald Trump.

Maher explained to his live Real Time audience during his New Rules segment, that it’s something like this that can fire up enough passion and energy in Trump supporters that they flock to the polls on November 8th to defeat Hillary Clinton. He warned Secretary Clinton to stay away from this campaign for equal poddy rights until after she’s elected because that’s the type of cultural red meat that conservatives feast on, despite the GOP candidate saying that Caitlyn Jenner could use the ladies room in his buildings.

For his part, Maher is even willing to forget about his own personal pet issue, pot legalization. Talk about sacrifice, how high did Bill have to get to take the sting out of that one? He feels that if arguing about hot button issues like legally enjoying weed is going to rally Trump’s troops and give him the election, then he’s willing to “shut the fuck up” and suggests others do the same with their favorite causes. Because “there’s no room for boutique issues in an Armageddon election”.

Maher understands the struggle of Transgender Americans, but there’s a time and a place and as far as he’s concerned, and now is the only time there is to defeat Donald Trump. He feels Democrats need to not to get “tricked” into battles over issues just because it feels like it’s fighting a righteous fight. He even cites how Barack Obama avoided a culture war to win the Presidency in 2008.

Bill Maher assured the Transgender community that even if bathroom freedom is put on the back-burner this election, they are not without friends. Hollywood would be there to keep making movies and TV shows featuring Transgender characters until they are mainstream. And that’s the only stream they need to really worry about.

New episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher return to HBO on September 16 at 10pm.
