The team behind the award winning Marlon Brando documentary Listen To Me, Marlon, is getting back together to create a feature length documentary about one of the most legendary figures in comedy history– John Belushi.

Belushi’s widow Judith has given her blessing to the film and shared the photo of John above from her private collection.

Production begins in the fall, with Sean Daniel serving as EP along with Bill Couturie.  Showtime will team up with R.J. Cutler and John Battsek for the doc about the life and times of Belushi.  Cutler and Battsek are responsible separately for some pretty major docs including The September Issue, Searching for Sugar Man and The Tillman Story.

“John Battsek and I have been discussing the possibility of making this film for over a decade,” added Judy Belushi. “ I’m thrilled to finally embark upon that journey together with him and director RJ Cutler. Passion Pictures is poised to make the definitive documentary on John Belushi – a man who not only had a profound effect on the comedy landscape of America, but also made an indelible mark on the social fabric of his time which continues to reverberate today.”

Judith is also working with Dan Aykroyd to bring an animated Blues Brothers series to prime time.
