Artie Lange Arrested

TMZ is reporting that Artie Lange was arrested Sunday in the parking garage of his Hoboken apartment building. According to reports, police found Lange with “several bags” of cocaine and heroin on his person and in his car as well as drug paraphernalia. A spokesperson for the Hoboken PD told the Hudson Reporter that police had gone to the parking garage after receiving a report that someone was attempting to get into a parked vehicle. The arresting officer says at that time he observed suspected heroin and cocaine inside a car, and when Lange approached and confirmed it was his car, they searched him and found additional bags of drugs.

Lange has a history of substance abuse problems which ultimately led to a suicide attempt that was the basis of his most recent book, Crash and Burn.

TMZ reported that he was taken to police headquarters, booked on charges and released.

Lange is currently co-starring in HBO’s Crashing with Pete Holmes and Judd Apatow playing himself as a recovering addict, and recently went on tour with Apatow and Holmes to promote the show. He also hosts the Artie Quitter podcast, appears regularly on SiriusXM’s Opie Radio show, and recently was a guest on SiriusXM’s Town Hall series.

Artie, who has always been incredibly frank on his Twitter account, posted about the arrest today after news hit the internet.  He wrote “Hey guys, I was arrested.  I’m doing great. Physically too! I’m in St. Louis and will be on stage this weekend at The Funnybone.  Love u all!.

He said the cops treated him well during the arrest, and seemed hopeful for what happens next.  “I wish I could tell u how my story ends. I hope it’s being old & smiling cuz of unique memories. But I’m such a flawed person guys. Tryin!”
