As part of our new podcast sharing select archival episodes of ’s epic interview series Unmasked, this week we return to 2014 to share a one of the funniest hours:  Unmasked with Jim Florentine.

The Unmasked series which began in 2008 with an amazing hour with Patrice O’Neal has taped nearly 200 episodes since, documenting the careers of the most interesting comedy writers, directors, filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, satirists, political comedians, comedic musicians and of course, stand up comedians in the business. It is a veritable archive of the greatest comedy of our time. Past Unmasked guests have included , Bob Newhart, , Dan Aykroyd, Simon Pegg, , Jim Jefferies, Gilbert Gottfried, Bobcat Goldthwait, Louis C.K., David Brenner, , and over 150 more comedy greats.

Jim Florentine was one of our favorite guests on ’s Unmasked series, and his hour is definitely one of the funniest hours in the series.  He’s a stand up comedian, TV host, actor, podcaster and voice artist with a seemingly endless number of hilarious stories– whether he’s talking about transitioning from mowing lawns to comedy, the first prank call he ever made, meeting Don Jamieson, getting a big break on Howard Stern, or the early years hanging around with friend and roommate . In this hour, he talks about his worst gig ever (the stage was a pool table in a biker bar), doing prank calls with Eminem, how his love for strippers and heavy metal helped move his career forward, how Special Ed got him out of trouble in a dicey airport situation and his Dice stories alone are worth the hour.

His amazing stories come from having one of the most interesting resumes in comedy- his prank phone calls are legendary, not only the ones you’ve seen on Crank Yankers, but also his six volume album series Terrorizing Telemarketers, and of course That Metal Show is known throughout the world.  But there’s also roles in Trainwreck, Girls, Californication, Red Oaks, Inside the NFL, Meet the Creeps and a bunch of comedy hour specials.

Originally taped on July 9, 2014 in front of a packed house at The Stand Comedy Club in New York City, don’t miss Unmasked with Jim Florentine.
