Apple Announces Superstar Animated Comedy

On Monday Apple’s streaming service announced the acquisition of Central Park, an animated series with an all star cast. The new network gave a commitment for two seasons, with a total of 26 episodes.

The series hails from Loren Bouchard (who created and EP’s Fox’s Bobs Burgers) and co-writers Nora Smith (also a Bobs Burgers EP) and Josh Gad. And just like with Bob’s Burgers, the new series promises an all star cast, although this series leans more actor-heavy whereas BB fills its roster with stand up superstars. Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., Titus Burgess, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci, Daveed Diggs and Kathryn Hahn will all have voice roles in the series about a family of caretakers who live and work in Central Park.

The series was originally planned to join the roster of great animated series on FOX, but after FOX passed, a bidding war followed with Netflix, Hulu and Apple.

There isn’t a lot of information available about Apple’s new streaming service. Yet. So we don’t really know what you’ll have to do or pay to watch Central Park. But we do know that Apple also gave a two season order to Untitled Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
