Andy Dick Loses Gig Over Alleged Sexual Harassment

Andy Dick is denying allegations that he groped anyone in a way that would be considered harassment. He does admit to crossing comfort boundaries– “I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That’s my thing” — but denies that he did anything that would rise to a level of sexual harassment. “It’s me being funny. I’m not trying to sexually harass people,” he told THR>

He might have to stop making that his thing; the current cultural climate in Hollywood might not be an environment where being weird in a way that involves touching other people can take place without repercussions. This weekend Adam Sandler was in the crosshairs for putting his hand on an actresses knee, and today the news is out that Dick was fired from the indie film Raising Buchanan over behavior deemed inappropriate involving groping genitals, unwanted kissing and licking, and “sexual propositions of at least four members of the production” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dick told THR that he may have licked some people, and propositioned others but joked that he is known for his reckless misconduct, and its part of the Dick appeal. He also told THR that he thinks the filmmakers were upset because he was bringing up Harvey Weinstein, even defending Weinstein, and said people were upset by Dick’s comments. Although he outright denies groping anyone’s genitals, he has no problem admitting to propositioning people on set, but defends the behavior saying he’s single and looking for a date.  “They can just say no, and they probably did and then I was done.”

He’s also been accused of being late to the set, showing up unprepared and causing disruptions during filming.  Raising Buchanan is a film about a woman who steals the corpse of President Buchanan, and stars Rene Auberjonois, Amanda Melby, Shannon Whirry and M. Emmet Walsh
