Showtime somehow came up with the perfect name for its new comedy series starring Andrew Dice Clay. It’s called “Dice”. The new half-hour comedy is a semi-autobiographical take on some of the semi-true stories of Dice’s life. Variety describes the series as Dice trying “to reclaim his former stature as a stand up comedian while juggling obligations to his family”. That family includes a girlfriend, an ex-wife, an ex-fiance, a mother-in-law and his sons’ band. It’s a lot for a guy to take on while working to resurrect his comedy career.

Showtime Executive Vice-President of Original Programming, Gary Levine said, “Love him or hate him, Dice is a true original, and Dice is always funny. After a career full of ups and downs, he’s hotter today than ever. Plus, we were looking to do a semi-autobiographical comedy about a one-named icon and Cher was busy.”

Production on “Dice” starts later this year when it films on location in Las Vegas. The six episode first season will premiere on Showtime in 2016.
