Amy Schumer’s Book Signing Interrupted By Protesters

Amy Schumer has faced hecklers before in her career, but they’re usually in a comedy club and not a bookstore. But that’s what happened when protesters crashed the party while Amy was hosting a book signing at the Barnes and Noble in NYC’s Union Square. She was there to meet fans and promote her brand new book, “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo”.

The protesters were animal rights activists who were upset about a coat that Amy Schumer was seen wearing this past winter. And when you think that now, summer is almost over, it really took these demonstrators awhile to get their act together. The coat in question is made by Canada Goose. The protesters claim that the company is allegedly involved in animal cruelty practices.

In the video below, provided by TMZ, the demonstrators start chanting at Amy Schumer while she’s speaking to the B&N crowd there to get their new books signed. Amy tries to have a dialogue with the protesters, but she is shouted down by their chants. Eventually the Barnes and Noble book cops got a handle on the situation and escorted the animal rights champions out of the building. That was before Amy was able to explain herself. She said that the big poofy hooded coat was a gift and that she only wore it once. After she found out about Canada Goose’s reputation, she never wore it again. The ironic thing would have been if Amy had been able to wear the coat and hood to hide herself from the protesters on her way out of the building.

“The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo” by Amy Schumer is available now on Amazon and everywhere books (but not coats) are sold.

Amy Schumer was tweeting out what a good time she was having at the book signing, before all the loud protesting started.
