More of the story is coming out about the Native Americans that walked off the set of Adam Sandler’s new movie, “The Ridiculous Six”. About a dozen Native American actors and the movie’s cultural advisor dropped out the film after taking issue with the jokes found in the script of the comedy that Sandler is making as part of his 4 movie Netflix deal.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, one actor working on the film confirmed that the makeup artists were darkening the skin of of actors of different ethnic backgrounds including black and Asian performers, to make them look more like Native Americans. An actor working on the set, Allison Young told MSNBC about the stereotyping, saying, “I’m full-blooded Navajo and they bronzed me. I was quite confused.” She added, “That says something when the cultural advisor for the film quits because he’s offended.”

Also video has been released of the actors speaking with a producer on the film about their complaints concerning the script they considered offensive.

Netflix hasn’t made any further statements about the recent “makeup” developments on “The Ridiculous Six”. So far they’ve only put out their initial comment – “The movie has ‘ridiculous’ in the title for a reason — because it’s ridiculous. It is a broad satire of Western movies and the stereotypes they popularized, featuring a diverse cast that is not only part of — but in on — the joke.”
