Adam Sandler Announces First Movie For Netflix
Last October, Adam Sandler signed an unprecedented deal with Netflix. The agreement included 4 movies produced by and starring Sandler that would premiere exclusively on Netflix. Now it’s time for Sandler to start delivering and he’s bringing everyone in Hollywood with him to do it.
It was announced that Sandler’s first film under the Netflix banner will be a Western spoof called “The Ridiculous 6”. According to The Wrap, production on “6” begins in February.
To call “The Ridiculous 6” an ensemble comedy would be an understatement. The movie co-stars Taylor Lautner, Nick Nolte, Whitney Cummings and Blake Shelton as Wyatt Earp. But don’t worry, Sandler is still taking care of his regular movie pals. The cast also includes Sandler friends, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Dan Aykroyd, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice who appeared in Sandler’s “That’s My Boy”. And that’s not all.
There’s no indication of what the Netflix budget is for this first Sandler outing, but “The Ridiculous 6” also has Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell and Lavell Crawford from “Breaking Bad” on the call sheet.
“Ridiculous 6” was set to be produced by Sony and Paramount both before Sandler’s Netflix deal moved it to the streaming company.
