Another Period Renewed for a Third Season

Comedy’s conquest into retelling history expands with the return of the narcissistic Bellacourt sister. All episodes of season 2 will be available June 15th, the day of the premiere on all platforms where Comedy Central is streamed. The satirical show has also been renewed for a third season.

This season follows America’s oldest New Money family as they attempt to divorce their gay husbands, fight disease before modern medicine and mostly become famous in a time before the internet. Co-creators Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome star alongside Michael Ian Black, Paget Brewster, Beth Dover, Lauren Flans, Brett Gelman, Christina Hendricks, Alice Hunter, Brian Huskey, David Koechner, Jason Ritter, David Wain and Armen Weitzman. This season also features roles by Jermaine Clement, Andrew Daly, Cedric the Entertainer, Perez Hilton, Moshe Kasher, Lauren Lapkus, Bobby Lee, Tom Lennon, Samm Levine, Aasif Mandvi, Kate Micucci, Adam Pally, Missi Pyle, Andrew Rannells, June Diane Raphael, Will Sasso, Joss Whedon, and more. The show will also feature actual historical characters (they’re all dead now, sorry, so it’ll be one of these comedians playing them) like Harriet Tubman, Albert Einstein and Teddy and Eleanor Roosevelt.

The channel is promoting the premiere date using some new and less new methods. First, viewers can experience a 360 VR dinner with the characters, which sounds like a better use of the technology than Comedy Central’s gimmick of a 360 VR stand-up special. Then, the girls will be plastered all over the channel’s Snapchat and website.

The women in charge expressed their gratitude for the continuation of the show, saying ““We’d like to thank Comedy Central for this continued opportunity to dress like queens and act like assholes.” The mistakes of the present are being played out in the past and with the channel’s blessing, there are so many more mistakes to come.
