Jim Beam is moving from the hills of Kentucky to the slopes.

You know it'll be a COLD DAY IN HELL before those folks at Jack Daniels in "Lynch"burg, TN will ever sell-out to no Japs!? ;)

I hope Suntory buys up Bacardi. Then, there will be a pitch meeting in Japan where someone will pitch Sunto Rum.

For the want of a thorough Google search, it will go to market.

And all the Americans will giggle.

Are they going to make you drink Beam and Knob Creek and Makers Mark warm like saki?  Fuck that shit.

After Bud was sold I figured something like this was going to happen.  I draw the line at Jack Daniels and Wild Turkey though.

as long as they don't mess with the recipe and keep the distillery in Lorreto I'm not sure I care who owns makers.

I don't care about Beam or Makers Mark, but they also now own all the good small-batch brands Beam owns, like Baker's, Booker's, Knob Creek, and Basil Hayden's. Truly a date that will live in infamy.

Here's one to ponder....JB announces the dilution of Makers Mark, consumers protest the idea, JB scraps the idea and the diluted MM never hits the shelves....

Or does it?

Jim Beam Black anyone?

Just sayin'...

They wanted Laphroaig. Huge in China. They drown it in seltzer there though, because they can't handle it. The demand screws around with prices. Annoying.

How am I supposed to drink Beam out of a Saki cup? This is bullshit!

Unless you drink Woodford, in which case you're not feelin this at all.

Woodford and Jefferson's, but I also liked those Beam small batches.  I guess they're still OK as long as the Japanese don't mess with the formula and try to make a more efficient product.

Of course.

I'm operating on the assumption that Black is the "diluted" Maker's. Or Maker's 2 if you will. Point being JB had the "new" Maker's ready to go, but when the consumers protested, in all likelihood they just called the new formula JB Black.

Got it. Conspiracy over. We didn't get black until recently here, which now that I looked into it has more to do apparently with our shitty distributorship/Ohio LCB situation.

I am officially the Chris Stanley of bourbon related conspiracies.

@AndyInCleveland Jim Beam Black has been around for years, they didn't just introduced it after the Maker's debacle.  Some of the new Makers got out and I tried it.  It tasted like Maker's Mark and nothing like Jim Beam Black.  Bizarre conspiracy you are trying to start there.
