Sandy Hook Benefit Concert Canceled Due To Lack Of Ticket Sales

chicago musicians careA Sandy Hook benefit concert that was supposed to happen in Chicago has been canceled because of lack of tickets being sold. Proceeds were supposed to go to the Sandy Hook Workers Assistance Fund, which helps teachers, first responders and other workers suffering mental health issues from the shooting. They’ll just have to deal with that on their own.

People can smell a scam charity like this a mile away.

Maybe they would sell more tickets if they were holding a benefit for Sandy Kane instead of Sandy Hook.

Maybe not

Maybe the response would have better if they were in, say, Connecticut instead of Chicago?

Benefits for the first responders? really?  Benefits should be for victims/direct family to help with bills... all others should stop making money off tragedies..

No one wants to attend because the performers are just some random local acts and a children's choir.  No one is watching a shitty children's choir unless a family member is actually in the choir.   Get some better acts and people will show up.  Simple as that

Stop with all of the benefit concerts . If someone gets a cold there is a benefit concert to buy them tissues . People just trying to make themselves feel better by sending stuffed animals , useless trinkets , or the bimonthly benefit concert .

This was in Chicago where there are murders every day, hell every hour.  I guess they figured "Where was their concert?"

There's a psychological difference between a benefit held for the victims of a natural disaster and one held for the victims of a brutal mass murder. For all of the death and destruction they can bring, natural disasters sometimes highlight the better qualities of humanity, and the news will cherry-pick all of the miracle survivors and close calls by the more fortunate. Survivors rejoice at being reunited with their lost pets, and they thank God for sparing them despite their neighbor's house being flattened. Among the devastation, there are things to smile about. With a mass shooting, there are no such feel good stories. We don't revel in the story of the kid who left class early to go to the restroom thereby missing a hollow-point bullet to the face. Thanking God for sparing you from the likes of Adam Lanza in favor of a first-grader who died face down on the carpet in a pool of his own blood would be in poor taste, to say the least. Among the carnage, there is no reason to smile. These tragedies remind us of the very worst of humanity, and no one wants to attend a complete downer of a concert. That's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

@kylechristo4 I completely agree.  Plus, I know this sounds terrible to day, but this affected a very small community and relatively few people vs. hurricane Sandy (although I still don't think a giant concert was needed for the latter either).  And, shouldn't it be in CT, and not Chicago?
