Help Save Our National Parks

Nov 19, 2012

“Washington needs to solve our deficit problem, but national parks didn’t cause the deficit and cutting or closing them won’t cure it. Our national parks attract nearly 280 million visitors each year. The parks support 258,000 jobs and more than $30 billion in private-sector spending. They generate $10 in economic activity for every federal dollar spent. And they do it all with funding that is only 1/14th of 1 percent of the federal budget.”

That sounds like "fuzzy" math.

Far be it from me to deny future generations the chance to imprint Bambi's deceptive (yeah, I said it) cuteness on a dumb smelly giant dumb forest rat.

Take one of the few things generating steady income for you & kill it, real fucking smart. Jamal still gets his free phone though...

@Cletus from Brooklyn jamal ? how about dropping the oil co breaks, and dropping the corp. welfare the repubs seem to love, then a 2% cut in all fed programs, maybe that would help get a budget that starts to get balanced, like when bubba clinton left office, The corp. welfare that happens as of late make jamals, freds or anyone else seem non-existant. remember, their is a diff between debt, and deficit. thx. i get what u r thinking, its just a bit askew.

@madtowntom  @Cletus from Brooklyn It is true that many low income people qualify for free cell phones,   It is much like when the federal Communications Act of 1934(part of the new deal)  This act allowed new phone lines to be put up where farmers would be able to connect to the nationwide network.  The phone companies of the time were unable to fund this.  Learn your history before complaining about how the government pays for phones.   ........................................ Now, it is valid to say that the government shouldn't pay for phones, but at the same time you have to say that the Act of 1934 was also ill advised. Maybe, maybe not

Thank you Interrobang for this important message.  I'd much rather go to a National Park than a Lady Gaga concert

The purpose of state and national parks is to preserve natural beauty and historic sites for future generations. What better way to do that then not allow filthy assed humans anywhere near them.

What the parks need are more bill boards and franchise restaurants

I have been lucky enough to travel to several of the great national parks including Yellowstone, Zion, Grand Canyon, Glacier, Yosemite and have truly been awed by the beauty and immensity of it all.  Everyone one who grew up in a metropolitan area owes it to themselves to experience it in person; truly mind blowing.

@Judge Smails no one makes you check out the ibang.... why the Fuck do you feel the need to complain. I'm a conservative, but I don't feel the need to comment on things I disagree with. This is an open forum, so I won't tell you to keep your comments to yourself. The whiny bitching is really not necessary.
