Guy Fieri vs The Critics
Not judging whether the food is good or bad (since most of us haven’t been there)– are the critics going overboard on Guy Fieri? Or is it fair game.
I don't think they are being fair. This isn't Le Bernardin or Momofuku. They aren't comparing apples for apples.
People who aren't from NY don't understand that having a restaurant in Time Square is like have a AppleBees in a really busy mall. If you want sophisticated food you head elsewhere. If you want a step above fast food you go here. Nothing wrong with that.
I really don't think the douchetastic Fieri even owns any of this place, I think they licensed his likeness and hired him to design a menu and promote it in exchange for a percentage of revenue.
doesn't sound like they are getting their money's worth though.
I like DDD - but this NY place sounds nothing like the cool restaurants he visits on the show.
He made a ton of cash by letting some company put his name on the wall. I hope to sell out in a similar matter some day.
@Rorschach7 people who hate his show act like they are above diner food. While both delicious, not everyone eats duck confit and foie gras.
I know people that brag that they alway have home cooked meals. Meanwhile their wife is making Rice-a-roni and shake-n-bake with canned vegetables.
Would you like Rock and butter rolls or Bread like the rock band bread to start?
You can't really treat his places like you're reviewing something on par with Plaza Athénée or Applebee's. They just hate him because he's all rock and roll man they can't hang so they're all like "cut your hair and stop being so cool" but he's like "no way man, I can't stop being cool, I'm a rebel man and if my corporately funded and committee thought of limited liability corporation isn't square enough for you... well you can sit on it potsy!"
