Traditional white America needs to break out the smallpox and genocide again to take back rightful ownership.
I know white males ("traditional America") don't want anything, do they? They would never take defense contracts and subsidies and low tax rates on Capital Gains just to fill their pockets would they? I mean that's not leeching becasue they punch a 9-5 clock. Given the choice they will make the call that is best for America and not for themselves.

50% of people want things? Both sides want "things." What's more, a welfare check for a million people or a 25% tax break on a seven hundred million dollar corporation corporation with most of their manufacturing and profitability overseas? Both suck! Either way the "things" even out financially.

@Chris from Detroit are you blaming libs for the 'white flight' that has happened in most major cities the last 25 yrs ?, cause that is the reason milwaukee, st,louis, detroit, etc... have some of the issues they have now, tax base leaving, not alot of spending money,alot of multi-generational welfare dont help.

They feel they are entitled to things because all of the so-called Job Creators have taken their jobs and shipped them to Mexico, India and China and this country stopped MANUFACTURING things that we had to earn. Now you can buy lots of cheap shit all over at places like Walmart and Dollar Store and Target. So yeah, as much as he'd like to blame the "lazy welfare state", it didn't just get their by choice, it got there by force from Big Business moving production and creation offshore.

@BigMetsFan And the thing is that it's not the truth. If you want to group "whites" vs "everyone else" then maybe. But the fact is that it's not a "whites vs everyone else" mentality.
Women, gays, atheists, christians. These are just a few of the targeted voting groups that are numerous in all ethnicities.
If republicans are intent on getting "the white vote", they should just pack it in now.

This is hilariously and indelicately stated...but not a word of it is false. It has been theorized for centuries by political philosophers (of all races and genders) that democracies contain the seeds of their own destruction, and when enough people figure out they can vote themselves "things" they will be hard pressed to resist absent a strong cultural ethic to do otherwise. It happens to be true that whites and males are the demographic holdouts but that doesn't mean much - "white slide" is a worsening phenomenon.

@BadNewsJeff Nobody is questioning democracy per se. Philosophers spend time considering how any system will square with human nature, and whether it can thrive over time.
As for my own views, I have them but I don't like dismissing most opposing views because they can be and have been defended with solid, legitimate arguments and the "truth" of any matter is rarely knowable or immutable over time if context changes. On the Bible thing, agree, Christianity advocates socialism. But then there are any number of arguments to be made about whether a secular government with religious freedom (of and from) as the first freedom should be forcing citizens to be charitable, and how far cynical pols should extend that charity before it becomes a self-perpetuating trap that can no longer be convincingly sold as compassionate or "moral"
@BadNewsJeff Oh the "white slide" wasn't an implication that whites somehow are inherently less likely to accept government dependence because of their DNA..I meant that whites as a demographic, even given their (in many cases unfairly gained) advantages, are increasingly as unwilling as any other group to resist "free stuff" from government, in favor of taking more responsibility for their own lives. It's pervasive across the culture that self-sufficiency is no longer a requirement for respect. There is no stigma against an able-bodied person accepting government assistance when he could provide the same for himself. Government will be there cradle to grave for anyone who wants it now (including "disability" for any number of trumped up psychological conditions that used to be called "quirks") and there is absolutely no cultural pressure not to rely on it. That absence of self- and societally-imposed pressure is a major, relatively recent change. It's slightly even more recent for whites (white slide) because they did not have the legacies of slavery, discrimination, etc. requiring government assistance to overcome, and opening the door to multi-generational dependency.
I appreciate the eloquence and civility of your posts, and now I regret my jab at religion. I can respect anybody that actually puts thought into their views, as you obviously do, no matter what those views are. I also don't think there's really anything wrong with questioning democracy- I am constantly questioning capitalism (should it be applied to healthcare? The arts? Education? Prisons?). To think that we have arrived at the perfect system of governance during out lifetime is arrogant and shows no sense of history. I don't agree with the "white slide" thing though. Just because I'm white, that doesn't mean I should be any smarter, more responsible, or whatever else that term implies than anyone else. And the reason the religious right drives me so insane is that Jesus, if you ever bother to sit down and read the Bible, was so OBVIOUSLY a socialist that I wonder what book Republicans are reading on Sunday mornings.

That Theory may be as valid as anyone's. Time will tell. When I think of White Slide, I think of the Honey Boo Boos and every other so called reality TV stars, and Politicians that use their religious beliefs in the most perverse of ways....There is some magic within a raped women's body that prevents them from getting pregnant, or the infamous....It is God's will that the women was raped and became pregnant. @geelalee You must be new. Fez earned where he is. The Fez currently on air hasn't always been around. He was once as quick and funny as Ron. Sure he has had some personal crisis or something and has changed dramatically and you can argue maybe should step down from the show, but don't act like he got where he is from a handout.
