I think if we got rid of black friday and just went with very very very dark blue friday it would be alot better.
I'm with the great Karl Pilkington on holidays. It sucks having the calendar tell me what to do on so many different days of the year. Be happy on this day! Appreciate your family on this day! Reflect on fallen soldies on this day! Get your mom something on this day! Get your dad something on this day!!! Buy your gal something on this day! Open your pool on this day! Close your pool on that day!!!! Then if I'm not in the mood to do one of these things on the proper day, I'm Scrooge Mcduck all of a sudden.
still like the gettin drunk part of xmas, ditch the presents and decorations. and the family part. and the commercials. fuck you all.
Christmas turned to shit when you get married...one family feels cheated because you're leaving early and the other family also feels cheated because you're showing up late and not eating their food....so you alternate chrismas years and pisses people off too...damned if you do, damned if you don't
Why don't we all just buy ourselves something nice on Christmas Eve and then meet up and show off our cool stuff on Christmas Day?
I hate Christmas, I love shopping and it ruins it for 2 months of the year, crowds, irritating music and the guilt of having to buy things for other people instead of for myself. That and all the Jesus talk. UGH.
My WHOLE family loves the decorating, the food tradition and the music (Vince Guaraldi album #1). We gave up presents except for the kids and it's much less stressful. Still love it!!
Just voted and it was dead even at 50/50...Hey HALF of the total people voting can't be wrong?? (Now tell Obama that :\)
Christmas would rule if we could somehow remove the constant pressure to buy, buy, buy...consume, consume, consume. We've totally lost track of what the holiday means, and it's now encroaching on Thanksgiving, which is my favorite one of the year.
i like celebrating with my own family, but extended family christmas should be finished once the oldest common relative dies. when i was a kid it was "to make grandma happy". grandma doesn't care. she's dead.
My policy for the last 20 years is that Christmas presents are for children and lovers. Luckily I have neither at the moment.
I like going to Mass and the Religious aspect, but I do not care for the shopping, the travel, the non-stop crap associated with this time of year.
