Dane Cook is the Latest Comedian to Apologize

Jul 28, 2012

Every week another comedian apologizes for a bad joke. This week it’s Dane Cook’s turn to wear the discipline helmet.

“I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado & did not mean to make light of what happened,” the comedian tweeted. “I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families & friends of the victims.”

Thanks Dane , means a lot we can rest now.

He should apologize for giving that apology.

"Didn't mean to make light of it".  Of course, you did.  You're at a comedy club telling your joke.  Did you accidentally fall into a comedy club and a horrible joke fell out of your mouth!?  At least own up to that.  Sorry, your attempt to look edgy didn't work.

People who are funny for a living have to take chances Fez

Dane Cook should apologize for existing. The fact that some people find this awful hack funny makes me question my faith in humanity. Worst "comedian" ever.

@kylechristo4 I am sure the boys at the McDonalds you work at find you hysterical.

@DavidFromPA  That's the type of sophisticated humor I would expect from a fan of a comedian once called "so devastatingly unfunny he makes terminal cancer look hilarious in comparison."

Comedians are eventually going to have to issue an apology at the end of each show just to be on the safe side.

"thank you all for coming, sorry if anyone was offended, drive home safe"

It's pretty funny. Get over it. Comedy clubs REALLY need to start checking cell phones like some strip clubs.

The offensive part is that the guy from Employee of the Month and Good Luck Chuck is calling the Dark Knight Rises a crappy movie.

This all an act.  He made that joke knowing he would later apologies. Just getting his name in the news.

@AssWhack! Shit.... that's a really good point, didn't think of it that way...

Nobody really believes he didn't consider whether the joke was over the line.  Which makes the apology not only craven but cynical.

Why write jokes of you think you might have to apologize for it? And why apologize if people found it funny? Who the fuck decides that these jokes are inappropriate for everyone when the whole crowd laughed?

Wow... another Fake-ass apology from a brilliant comic... In a truly FREE Country EVERYTHING should be fair game to be mocked, trashed & laughed at... sometimes laughter is more therapeutic than wallowing in sorrow...

So are the people in the audience gonna issue an apology for laughing?

He could have done that same bit but went with Abe Lincoln watching "our american cousin" instead and had no trouble.

But NOOOO.. He had to pick on Batman and for that he should be ashamed!
